Silver Needle Fashion Show 2011

The Fashion Program at Marist College is proud to present the 25th Annual Silver Needle Fashion Show and Awards to be held in the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York on May 5, 2011.

The Silver Needle provides Fashion majors with different concentrations and experiences the opportunity to work cohesively to create a professional product. Each design class is assigned a project for the semester and students work to complete garments for the runway show each May. As students progress through the program, assignments become more challenging - with more garments required for the show every year. The Silver Needle allows senior design majors to showcase the talent and creativity that has been cultivated and nurtured over the last four years. Seniors are required to create a full collection comprised of 6 separate pieces and an outwear garment.

The Silver Needle is produced each year by the Fashion Show Production class, making it an almost completely student run event. While the show is a tremendous opportunity for the design students, merchandising students are also given the chance to demonstrate production and planning skills they have learned through the Fashion Program. Scholarships are provided by Liz Claiborne, Cutty Sark, Young Menswear Association,  Dominque Pino-Santiago, Maggy London, Mary Abdoo Fund, Dutchess County Home Bureau, and the Marist College Fashion Program Scholarship Fund.
